What we collect, and why
This is an experiment to find out whether people will keep coming back to discover artists they wouldn't otherwise hear. We collect what that question needs and nothing else.
Your identity
A random anonymous ID in a cookie. No name, no email, no password — unless you choose to add an email so your saved artists survive a cleared cookie.
Your music taste
The artists you tell us you like, the genres you exclude, and your obscurity and adventurousness settings.
What you do here
Which artists we showed you, why we picked them, and whether you liked, skipped, saved, or opened them. This is the actual point of the experiment.
If you save artists
Saving works with no account. If you sign in so your saves survive a cleared cookie, we store your email address and use it for one thing only: signing you in. No marketing, no sharing, no selling. If you sign in with Google, Apple or Facebook we ask them for your email address and nothing else — not your contacts, posts, or friends — and we keep no access token afterwards, because signing in is all we ever needed it for.
If you share an artist
A share link points at a public page about the ARTIST — never at your recommendation. The reason we picked it for you (“similar to…”) would reveal your taste to whoever you sent it to, so it is deliberately left out.
Your choice about analytics
The first time you visit we ask whether we can record which artists you were shown and what you did with them. In the EU, UK, Switzerland and Brazil we record nothing until you say yes. Elsewhere we start recording and the same banner lets you turn it off. Either way the answer is yours, you can change it any time in Settings, and the app works exactly the same. The identity cookie stays regardless, because without it we cannot avoid showing you the same artist twice or keep the artists you saved.
Cookies
Two, both essential: one carries your anonymous ID so we can recognise you when you return, one tracks the current session. We measure behaviour on our own servers. Your data may be used to support advertising, and any tracking cookie that requires would be named here.
Location
Only your country, and only if you opt into local discovery. We never ask for or store your device location.
How your data may be used
Beyond tuning recommendations and measuring whether this product works, your data may be used to support advertising, or sold to third parties.
Your rights
There is a Delete everything button in Settings. It is immediate and permanent: your account, saved artists, taste settings, history and any Google/Apple/Facebook link are erased, and no support request is needed. What remains is the usage log with every identifier stripped out — rows nothing can tie back to you — because keeping the anonymous totals is what stops one person leaving from rewriting the numbers for everyone else. Clearing your cookies is not the same thing: it just orphans the data. Use the button. Email us if you want a copy of your data first.
Who else sees it
Our host, Vercel, collects anonymous page-view and performance statistics — no cookies of its own, no cross-site profile. It only runs if you've allowed analytics; decline and it never loads.
Where your data lives
On servers in the United States (our hosting and database providers). If you're in the EU or UK, that's an international transfer — worth knowing before you decide to use an experiment.
